Detailed Safari Itinerary

Day 1: Kampala to Kibale Forest National Park

Depart Kampala after breakfast, driving through the lush Nile Delta and papyrus swamps toward the Rwenzori Mountains. In the afternoon, enjoy a guided walk through the Crater Lakes region for outstanding sightseeing and an introduction to the area’s birdlife.

Day 2: Kibale Primate Walk & Semliki Night Drive

Enter Kibale Forest for a combined primate and birding walk. Key species to look for include the Green-breasted Pitta, African Broadbill, and Black-billed Turaco. After lunch, explore the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary before an evening drive to Semliki for a nocturnal game drive to spot nightjars and owls.

Day 3: Lake Albert & the Shoebill Stork

Enjoy breakfast by the pool as Weaver birds flock nearby. We take a boat trip on Lake Albert to search for the rare Shoebill. Other key species today include the African Pygmy Goose and the Abyssinian Ground Hornbill.

Day 4: Mountains of the Moon to Queen Elizabeth Park

Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park, enjoying the scenery of the foothills of the Rwenzori. In the afternoon, embark on a Kazinga Channel boat trip. This is a birding highlight, featuring Great White Pelicans, African Jacanas, and various Kingfishers alongside hippos and elephants.

Day 5: Savannah Birding & Crater Sightseeing

Day 6: Tree-Climbing Lions & The Journey South

Day 7: Gorilla Trekking & Montane Birding
