This 4-day Gorilla & Chimp Tracking Safari is a compact yet high-impact adventure designed for travelers with limited time who refuse to miss Uganda’s premier wildlife highlights. You will journey into the ancient Bwindi Impenetrable Forest for a life-changing encounter with endangered mountain gorillas and explore the lush Kalinzu Forest Reserve for an intimate chimpanzee tracking experience.

The route is an intricately crafted odyssey through the Kigezi Highlands, often called the Switzerland of Africa, featuring dramatic terraced hills and volcanic vistas. Along the way, you will traverse the Ishasha Sector, famed for its rare tree-climbing lions, and stand at the Equator, making every mile of this journey a discovery of Uganda’s natural wonder.

Detailed Safari Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival at Entebbe & Transfer to Kampala

Upon your arrival at Entebbe International Airport (EBB), your provided guide will be waiting to welcome you. You will be transferred to your hotel in Kampala to relax and prepare for the journey ahead.

Day 2: The Scenic Journey to the Gorilla Highlands

Your safari officially kicks off with a drive to the southwestern edge of Uganda.

Travel Note: This is an 8–9 hour journey through the most beautiful part of the country. To ensure your comfort, we include a scenic lunch stop-over en-route. As the landscape shifts into the terraced Kigezi hills and bamboo forests, you will enjoy breathtaking views of the Virunga Mountains before reaching the edge of the Bwindi sanctuary.

Day 3: Gorilla Trekking & Transfer to Ishasha

After an early morning briefing by UWA officials, enter the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. This trek through dense vines and ancient trees leads you to one of the nine habituated gorilla families. You will spend one unforgettable hour observing these peaceful giants. Following the trek, we drive through the Ishasha Sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park, keep your eyes on the fig trees for a glimpse of the legendary tree-climbing lions.

Day 4: Chimp Tracking in Kalinzu Forest & Departure

After breakfast, embark on a Chimpanzee tracking adventure in the Kalinzu Forest Reserve. This forest is a biodiversity hotspot, home to various primates and over 300 bird species.

Travel Note: Following the trek, begin the journey back to Entebbe. We include a mandatory stop at the Equator for your final souvenir shopping and photography. You will be transferred directly to the airport for your evening flight.
