This 4-day Uganda primates odyssey is uniquely designed for travelers arriving via Kigali, Rwanda, offering a shorter, scenic transit to Uganda’s premier wildlife destinations. This safari bridges two of Africa’s most significant biological wonders: Kibale Forest National Park, the undisputed Primate Capital of the World, and Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, a UNESCO World Heritage site and sanctuary for half of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas.

Witness the high-energy antics of habituated chimpanzee troops and the profound, silent majesty of a mountain gorilla family. Detailed Safari Itinerary

Day 1: Kigali to the Ndali-Kasenda Crater Lakes

Your journey begins with a warm welcome from your safari guide in Kigali. You will cross into Uganda via the Gatuna/Cyanika border, heading toward the enchanting Ndali-Kasenda Crater Lakes near Kibale.

These tranquil calderas, formed by ancient volcanic activity, offer a landscape of emerald-green waters and lush rims. On clear days, the Rwenzori Mountains (Mountains of the Moon) provide a dramatic backdrop. You will enjoy a nature walk to the Top of the World viewpoint for panoramic vistas of the tea plantations and craters.

Day 2: Chimpanzee Tracking & Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

After an early breakfast, report to the Kanyanchu Visitor Center for a briefing. You will enter the Kibale canopy in search of the chimpanzees. While the chimps are the main draw, keep your eyes peeled for the Red Colobus and L’Hoest’s monkeys.

In the afternoon, you will begin your journey toward Bwindi Forest.

Travel Note: This drive takes approximately 5–6 hours. As the road winds through the Switzerland of Africa, you will experience the dramatic shift from savanna-fringe forests to the steep, mist-covered ridges of the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

Day 3: Gorilla Trekking & Batwa Cultural Immersion

Today, you enter the ancient Bwindi rainforest. Guided by expert trackers, you will navigate rugged terrain to find a mountain gorilla family. Sitting among these gentle giants, the dominant Silverback and his family, is an extraordinary, intimate experience that lasts exactly one hour.

In the evening, visit the Batwa Cultural Village. The Batwa were the original inhabitants of the forest. They will demonstrate traditional fire-making, hunting techniques, and vibrant dances, offering a glimpse into a way of life that remained unchanged for centuries.

Day 4: Scenic Drive to Entebbe & Departure

Travel Note: This is an 8–9 hour journey. To ensure your comfort, we include a mid-way stop at the Uganda Equator for a lunch break and souvenirs. You will arrive in Entebbe in the late afternoon for your flight departure, concluding your 4-day primate odyssey.
