Detailed Safari Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival and Transfer to Volcanoes National Park

Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be greeted by our professional safari guide. After a comprehensive briefing on your 3-day Rwanda expedition, you will begin your journey toward the northern province.

This 110km (approximately 2.5–3 hours) drive is a visual feast, taking you through the vibrant, terraced hillsides that define the Rwandan countryside. You will witness local life unfolding, from bustling markets to farmers tending to their steep plots, before the dramatic silhouettes of the Virunga Volcanoes appear on the horizon. Upon arrival, check into your luxury lodge for a briefing on the following day’s primate encounter.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park

Today marks the pinnacle of your safari. Following an early breakfast, you will head to the Kinigi park headquarters for a safety and etiquette briefing by park rangers. You will then be assigned to one of the habituated gorilla families.

Accompanied by experienced trackers and guides, you will venture into the dense, bamboo-covered slopes. The trek can last between 2 and 6 hours, depending on the gorillas’ movement. Once located, you will spend one golden hour observing these incredible primates. Witnessing their familial bonds, playful juveniles, and the quiet power of the Silverback is a profound experience that resonates long after you leave the forest. After the trek, return to the lodge to unwind or enjoy an optional stroll to the nearby Twin Lakes.

Day 3: Departure via Kigali City Tour

After a relaxed breakfast, bid farewell to the mountains and drive back to Kigali. Depending on your flight schedule, you will explore the capital’s landmarks, including the Kigali Genocide Memorial, a vital site for understanding Rwanda’s journey of resilience and unity.

You may also visit the Caplaki Craft Village to support local artisans by picking up handcrafted souvenirs. Your guide will ensure a timely transfer to the airport for your onward flight, marking the conclusion of your exclusive 3-day Rwanda safari.
