This 4-day Gorillas and Chimps Trekking Safari offers an epic journey through Uganda’s most iconic jungles. You will explore Kibale Forest National Park, the Primate Capital of the World, home to 13 primate species and the highest density of wild chimpanzees. The adventure continues to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, a UNESCO World Heritage site harboring more than half of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas.

Detailed Safari Itinerary
Day 1: Travel to Kibale Forest National Park & Bigodi Nature Walk
Your safari guide will pick you up for a 5-hour drive westwards to Fort Portal, a picturesque town nestled in the shadow of the Rwenzori Mountains.
After a refreshing lunch, you will visit the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary. This community-led project is a haven for birders and primate seekers. Expect to spot the Great Blue Turaco, Blue Monkeys, and Baboons as you navigate the lush swamp boardwalks.

Day 2: Chimpanzee Tracking & Transfer to Bwindi Forest
After an early breakfast, report to the Kanyanchu Tourist Centre for a briefing on chimpanzee trekking etiquette. You will then head into the jungle to track our closest relatives. Once found, you will spend one hour observing their playful interactions and vocalizations.
In the afternoon, you will begin the drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
Travel Note: This transition involves roughly 5–6 hours of driving. We navigate through the scenic crater lake region and rolling terraced hills, providing ample opportunities for photography stops before arriving at your lodge for a relaxing evening.

Day 3: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Today is the highlight of your safari. Following a briefing at the park headquarters, you will be assigned to a gorilla family. Trekking through the ancient, vine-covered slopes of Bwindi can be physically demanding but immensely rewarding.
When you finally meet the Mountain Gorillas, you will spend a magical one hour just meters away from these gentle giants. Observe the silverback’s protective nature and the playful antics of the juveniles, a connection that shares over 98% of human DNA.
