Safari Overview
Uganda & Rwanda
The 3-Day Bwindi Forest Gorilla Trekking Safari Uganda takes you into the heart of the ancient Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Located along the steep escarpments of the Western Rift Valley, Bwindi is a UNESCO World Heritage site and the only park globally famous for harboring half of the world’s remaining endangered Mountain Gorillas. This odyssey isn’t just about the primates; it’s a cultural immersion featuring the local Batwa and Bakiga communities and a symbolic crossing of the Earth’s Equator.

Detailed Safari Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival and Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park
Your adventure begins at 8:00 AM as our professional safari guide picks you up from your hotel in Kampala or Entebbe. You will embark on a 500km journey to the southwest. To ensure comfort on this long drive, we make a strategic stop at the Equator Crossing in Kayabwe for photography and a geographical demonstration.
Proceed through the lush cattle corridor to Mbarara City, where you will enjoy a hot lunch at the Agip Motel. The final leg of the journey takes you through the Switzerland of Africa, the terraced Kigezi highlands, before arriving at the misty fringes of Bwindi.
- Accommodation: Silverback Lodge (Luxury) / Rushaga Gorilla Camp (Standard) / Bunyonyi Overland Resort (Comfort)
- Meal Plan: Lunch & Dinner
Day 2: The Gorilla Trekking Experience & Community Walk
After an early breakfast, transfer to the Park Headquarters for a mandatory briefing by Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) rangers at 8:00 AM. Equipped with your rain jacket and hiking boots, you will head into the dense primary forest in search of one of the habituated gorilla families.
The trek can last between 2 and 6 hours, depending on the movement of the primates, but the golden hour spent in their presence is the most exciting wildlife encounter on earth. In the afternoon, you can opt for a cultural village walk to interact with the local communities, witnessing traditional dances and learning about their symbiotic relationship with the forest.

Day 3: Bwindi back to Kampala / Entebbe Airport
On the final day of your 3-Day Bwindi Forest Gorilla Trekking Safari, you will begin your journey back to Central Uganda. Given the duration of the drive, we break the journey with a relaxing lunch stop in Mbarara City. This allows you to stretch your legs and refresh before the final stretch.
