Experience the ultimate wildlife encounter on this 3-day Bwindi Gorilla Safari. This classic itinerary is the most direct way to reach the mist-shrouded Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, a UNESCO World Heritage site and home to roughly half of the world’s remaining endangered mountain gorillas.
Starting from Kampala or Entebbe, you will journey across the equator and through the rolling little Switzerland of the Kigezi highlands. Beyond the profound experience of meeting a gorilla family, you will have the opportunity to engage with local communities and witness the vibrant cultural heritage of southwestern Uganda.

Detailed Safari Itinerary
Day 1: Journey to the Gorilla Highlands
Your guide will pick you up at 8:00 AM for the drive southwards.
Travel Note: This is an 8–9 hour journey (approx. 480km). To ensure a comfortable trip, we include a stop-over at the Equator for snacks and photography, followed by a leisurely lunch in Mbarara City. As you approach Bwindi, the landscape transforms into the lushest highland rainforest on earth.

Day 2: The Gorilla Trekking Experience
After an early breakfast, head to the park headquarters for a 7:30 AM briefing by Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) rangers. You will be assigned a gorilla group and venture into the dense jungle.
The trek can take between 2 and 6 hours depending on the gorillas’ location. Once found, you will spend one unforgettable hour observing these peaceful primates. In the evening, relax at your lodge or take a community foot safari to meet the people who coexist with the forest.

Day 3: Return to Kampala / Entebbe
After breakfast, bid farewell to the forest and begin the return journey.
Travel Note: We again break the long drive with a lunch stop in Mbarara and a final visit to the Equator craft shops for souvenir shopping. You will arrive in Kampala or Entebbe in the early evening for your departure flight or hotel drop-off.
