Detailed Safari Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Kigali: The Heart of Rwanda

Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport (KGL), you will be greeted with our VIP Meet & Greet service. Your guide will transfer you to your hotel in the heart of the city. Depending on your arrival time, you can relax or take a stroll through the meandering boulevards of this remarkably organized capital.

Day 2: Kigali City Exploration & Transfer to Volcanoes National Park

Start your day with a guided tour of Kigali. You will visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial, a deeply moving site that offers essential context to Rwanda’s journey of healing and unity. Later, visit the Inema Arts Center to witness the country’s modern creative pulse.

In the afternoon, embark on a 2.5 to 3-hour scenic drive to Musanze.

Travel Note: The climb toward the Virunga Mountains offers breathtaking views of terraced hills. We include a stop at a high-altitude viewpoint for photography and a stretch before you check into your lodge nestled at the base of the volcanoes.

Day 3: Gorilla Trekking & Iby’Iwacu Cultural Experience

Today is the cornerstone of your safari. After an early breakfast and briefing at the RDB Park Headquarters, you will enter the forest in search of one of the 10 habituated gorilla families. The trek can range from 30 minutes to a full day. Once found, you have one hour to observe these gentle giants in a truly intimate setting.

In the afternoon, visit the Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village. Here, former poachers have become conservationists, sharing their traditional dances, architecture, and kingly rituals with visitors.

Day 4: Golden Monkey Trekking & The Dian Fossey Legacy

Later, visit the Ellen DeGeneres Campus of the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund. This state-of-the-art facility is a must-visit for anyone interested in science and conservation, featuring interactive exhibits that showcase the work started by Dian Fossey to save the mountain gorillas.
