TOUR DESCRIPTION

This 5 days tour takes you Kalinzu forest reserve to catch a glimpse at some of the Uganda primates like chimpanzees, baboons & other monkey species while en-route to Queen Elizabeth national park. A number of attractions can be found in Queen like Lake George, explosion craters, Mweya Peninsula, Kazinga channel, Kasenyi plains, Lake Katwe, Kyambura gorge and so many more others. This tour takes you for an early morning game drive to have a look at some of the wildlife within the park, and an afternoon launch trip at the Kazinga channel.

You will also get to enjoy great views of a hilly countryside and some bamboo forests while on your way to Bwindi forest. At Bwindi, Gorilla trekking is the main activity and others include birding, cultural encounters and nature walks. Getting close to the mountain gorillas is truly a humbling experience to most travelers. You will also have a chance to do some souvenir shopping while at the Equator on your way back to Kampala.

TOUR ITINERARY

Day 1: Primate Tracking in Kalinzu

Meet with our driver/ tour guide who will transfer you to Queen Elizabeth National Park. In the Afternoon, one of the best Uganda primates experience, to see chimpanzees, baboons & other monkey species in Kalinzu Forest Reserve before you reach Queen Elizabeth national park.

Day 2: Queen Elizabeth National Park Tour

Get up early and be ready for an early morning game drive at 6:30am, have breakfast from the lodge before you head out to the park with your guide. An early morning sunrise, giving you chance to see the beauty of Uganda’s nature & wildlife e.g. Elephants, buffaloes, leopards, Kobs, antelopes and a lot more. Later return back to your lodge to relax and have lunch. In the afternoon, a 2 to 3 hour boat cruise along the Kazinga channel will be the highlight of your visit to Queen Elizabeth national park. A large number of hippos can be seen, and Elephants, buffaloes, rare bird species. Later return back to your lodge for dinner & overnight stay.

Day 3: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

Today your guide will drive you to Bwindi impenetrable forest park in the south-western part of Uganda; close to the borders with Rwanda and Congo. Crossing a beautiful part of the country – you will see a great country-side, bamboo forest and have great views over the Virunga Mountains.

Day 4:    Bwindi Impenetrable Forest – Gorilla Trekking

Early morning prepare yourself for an amazing encounter with Bwindi’s gentle giants. This is absolutely the best highlight of your tour in Uganda. The forest boasts with over 5 primate species, 113 species of mammals, 360 bird species and more. Starting at 8:00am, with a briefing from the UWA staff, your trek into the forest needs you to be reasonably fit. A raincoat, boots and drinking water are essential items among others. The trek is normally in groups, maximum 8 people led by a guide. There are several habituated gorilla families in Bwindi, and each family is assigned a group of tourists. You will be allowed to spend at most 1 hour with the gorillas, and that will surely be best moment of your life – ‘standing just next to the endangered mountain gorillas’. After the trekking, your guide will take you for a village walk to the nearby communities which live around the forest. This is a great opportunity to learn more about their way of lives and also do some souvenir shopping since there are some craft shops with good African materials.

Day 5: Return to Kampala or Entebbe, stop-over at the Equator.

Today you continue your journey by driving back to Kampala or Entebbe (Airport). With a stop-over at the equator, one of the best places for your souvenir shopping and some coffee/snacks. Your driver/guide will bring you to your accommodation in Kampala or to Entebbe Airport.
